Spawners

Spawners are blocks that continuously produce one set mob. On WarpedRealm they stack, the mobs they produce stack, and you can pick them up and move them. A stacked spawner farm is a steady source of drops, XP, and sellable loot.

Where to get spawners

Spawners come from a crate, from mining ones that are already placed, or from traders that each sell spawners you can't get elsewhere:

SourceHow you payWhat you get
Spawner CrateSpawner Keys from voting, Vote Parties, and other cratesA random spawner, from common farm animals up to rare combat mobs
Silk TouchA Silk Touch toolPick up and move any spawner already placed in the world (see below)
Spawner Key Exchange (/spawnertrader)Spare spawnersTrades duplicates back into Spawner Keys
Artifact Trader (/artifacttrader)SunsFishing-themed spawners
Hexmaster (/hexmaster)Boss Sigils from World BossesSpecial spawners the crate never drops
End Quest VendorEnd Quest PointsAn Enderman spawner (200 points). See Quests.

Each spawner is set to one mob: a Pig spawner only spawns pigs. For what the combat spawners produce, see Custom Mobs.

TIP

The Spawner Key Exchange (/spawnertrader) buys duplicate spawners back as Spawner Keys: 3 of a passive spawner (pig, cow, sheep, chicken, rabbit, squid) or 2 of a combat spawner (zombie, skeleton, creeper, spider, slime) per key. Use it to turn spares into a fresh crate roll.

Picking up spawners

Spawners are protected: you can't break one with a normal pickaxe. Mining it without the right tool just tells you it can't be broken.

  • You need Silk Touch to pick a spawner up. Silk Touch I works and is guaranteed to succeed.
  • A picked-up spawner drops straight into your inventory, keeping its mob type.
  • Sneak while breaking to take an entire stack at once; mine normally to peel them off one at a time.

WARNING

Explosions can still destroy spawners. A creeper going off in your farm can wreck the ones in the blast, so light the area up and claim it to keep your setup safe.

Stacking spawners

Place spawners of the same mob together and they merge into a single stacked spawner, shown by a floating tag with the count. The more spawners in the stack, the more mobs it produces each cycle.

  • A single stack holds up to 25 spawners.
  • Sneak-place to drop your whole handful of spawners into the stack at once.
  • Shift-right-click a spawner to open its info screen: the mob it spawns, the countdown to the next spawn, and whether conditions are met.

How spawning works

  • A spawner only runs while a player is within 16 blocks. Walk away and it pauses.
  • It spawns a fresh batch roughly every 20–50 seconds, a few blocks around the spawner.
  • Redstone power switches a spawner off, so you can wire up an on/off lever for your farm.
  • Mobs from spawners have their AI switched off, so they stand still instead of wandering or attacking, which makes them easy to funnel and farm.

Mob stacking and multi-kill

Mobs produced by spawners stack together into a single mob with a tag showing how many it represents, so a busy farm stays smooth instead of flooding the area with separate entities.

  • A mob stack holds up to 100 mobs.
  • When you hit a stack, you kill 3 at once and get the drops and XP for all three. No special enchantment needed, just attack the stack.
  • Only spawner mobs stack. Naturally-spawned and bred animals do not merge, so your manual farms behave normally.

TIP

Spawner mobs stand still and die three at a time, so a stacked farm clears fast. Pair it with a sellwand to cash in the drops quickly.

INFO

Spawner and mob stacking work in the main building worlds. They're off in the resource worlds and at spawn, so build your farm in your claimed base in a regular dimension. See Dimensions and Claims.
